Favourite birds
The barn owl - for being so gorgeous
The bluebird - for being so pretty and dainty
The swan - for its elegance
The crow - for its “badass” front
The bowerbird - for its courtship rituals in which the male lures the female into his elaborate love-den laden with shiny, found objects
The lyre bird - for its ability to mimic almost any sound - even, unbelievably, that of a chainsaw

Happy
I have the greatest family, really I do. As dysfunctional as we may be, we all love each other, and I have no doubt that we will be able to grab any problem and squeeze it by the throat, with some sick, self-deprecating jokes along the way.

This is because the doofus or so-called ‘teacher’ taking this particular class didn’t impress me at all. My first impression of him was that he looked like a slug. That, and he...

‘Compliance’ sounds delightfully twisted. This is a definite must-see.

Highlight of the week, or possibly of the month,...
Mark Lanegan Band, Forum Theatre, April 26. I can’t get it out of my mind. I can’t fucking wait. Oh. My. God.

It looks like it’s going to be a nice, cozy night in with my Murakami book. I can’t think of anything better. Oh, joy!
